Pilates

The method represents a unique approach to exercise that develops body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural and alignment habits and increasing flexibility and ease of movement.

The core fundamentals of the Method are based upon a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the human body. The Pilates Teacher uses this information to create a comprehensive exercise program for each client with the aim of restoring a greater sense of balance. It is this holistic approach that sets the Method apart from many other forms of exercise. Indeed, Osteopaths, physiotherapists and general practitioners are now recommending Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today.

Pilates helps to create a balance between strength and flexibility, improving dynamic strength and improving co-ordination. It has proved to be a very popular exercise with athletes and dancers, helping to improve technique, prevent injury and offer remedial and rehabilitation work.  The practice of Pilates also provides a gentle form of exercise for pregnant women (pre and post natal) and the elderly.

Intermediate/Advanced group pilates is available at the Crystal Palace Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre on Monday and Tuesday evenings 8-9pm.  Limited places are available for 6 weeks terms (£66), please contact Klara for more information.

Personal Training

The fact that you have come through to this page means you are probably thinking about the benefits of a personal trainer. But, what do you think you need help with? Improving your fitness levels; rehabilitation after an illness or operation; losing a few pounds; improving your general health or maybe you have been advised by your GP to take up some form of exercise?

Personal training is so called because it's all about 'one on one' advice, guidance and motivation. The whole reason for paying for your own fitness trainer, is to get a training program that's right for you.

People have personal trainers for different reasons. Some can't work without a training partner, some have injuries that need careful monitoring and some people have specific goals like a marathon. Whatever the reason, a trainer will be dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.

As your trainer, I will put together a bespoke training program that no matter whether you are new to exercise or experienced, will produce results with an exercise and regime that you feel comfortable with.

Many people have great intentions when they start out exercising on their own, only to fall by the wayside as they find the gym a bit of a tougher prospect than they thought. That's where a personal trainer comes in!

The benefit of personal training with an experienced and qualified trainer is that I will:

  • assess your current level of fitness
  • take into consideration your medical history
  • consider your goals; and then
  • devise an individually tailored regime to help you achieve those goals quickly and safely

Still not convinced? Why not train with a friend, or a small group? All of the above can be altered to suit you in a location (home/park) that is most convenient to you!
